Ottawa Police say a 27-year-old man suffered non-life-threatening injuries after being shot in the Byward Market overnight.
The incident marks the city's 50th shooting of 2016.
It happened around 3:00 A.M. Sunday.
George St. was taped off in front of the Byward Market square, including the intersection of George and William Streets, but has since been reopened.
Several police cruisers responded to the call, including at least one canine officer.
Police say they haven't yet made any arrests, but the victim is known to them.
The incident sets a new record for shootings in a single year in Ottawa. It was tied with 2014 at 49 last week with the shooting of Abdi Jama.
Police are asking anyone with information to come forward.
