Ottawa Police are out with an arrest warrant for a man they say has been targeting students at universities and stealing their higher-end laptops.
They say the thefts occured between January 11th and February 9th of this year, in local universities.
They mostly occured in study areas, focusing on students who had left the premises for a couple of minutes, were distracted on the phone, or sleeping.
Police say they have an arrest warrant for 19-year-old Marcus Matamba, from the Ottawa-Gatineau area.
He's been charged with six counts of theft under $5,000 dollars, and six counts of breach of probation.
Matamba is described as 5'9" and approximately 123 lbs.
Lead investigator Detective Hull says, "Unattended valuables, for any length of time, are at risk of being taken."
