Ottawa Police are looking for information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to help solve an ongoing case.
Police say in the months of October and November of this year, they’ve responded to 10 calls about a man who has been committing “indecent acts” in places such as Hintonburg, Westboro and Carlington.
Police believe the same man is involved in all of these cases, given the similar descriptions provided by the victims.
Police say in each case, a man would drive up to women walking alone in the evening hours and ask a question to get their attention. He would then perform the unspecified indecent act before driving away. Police say the women were never touched or otherwise sexually assaulted.
The acts took place in an area of the city bordered by Richmond Road, Caldwell Avenue, Churchill Avenue and Fairmont Street.
The suspect is described as a Middle Eastern man, 20 to 30 years old, with a stocky to heavy build, and having dark hair with a beard. He was driving a silver or grey-coloured smaller-sized SUV at the time of incidents.
Police are asking people to report suspicious incidents like this. They say if you feel you are being followed by someone in a car, try to write down the license plate on your phone or a piece of paper, and take notes on any details you can about the driver.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ottawa Police Service Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 5944. Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling Crime Stoppers toll-free at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or downloading the Ottawa Police app.
