Ottawa Police are trying to use social media to get the word out about traffic safety downtown, including interacting with cyclists.
Constable Jon Hall - who often tweets about road issues under the handle "@TheBeardedCop" - posted a video today shot only blocks away from where 23-year-old Nusrat Jahan died after being pinned under the back wheel of a large truck.

In the self-shot footage at Laurier and Metcalfe, the officer points out the multiple traffic measures in place meant to alert drivers that cyclists are in the area.
"If you haven't seen it, there is a solid median there," says Hall. "If you miss that, there are the blue pegs. And if you miss all those, there are painted signs on the ground."
Hall also draws attention to "no right turn on red" and "yield to cyclists" signs.
"So you come up to the right turn, green light, green arrow... wait for three seconds. Don't start turning right, blocking that bicycle lane."
Nusrat Jahan died at Lyon and Laurier on September 1st.
Police laid charges against the truck driver last week.
38-year-old Steven Bruce Conley is accused of dangerous driving causing death and criminal negligence causing death.
