Ottawa's Butterfly Child is recovering in a Minnesota hospital after receiving a stem cell transplant from his mother back on September 8th.
Tina Boileau says Jonathan Pitre is battling fevers while his white blood cell count is low, and doctors are waiting until the end of the week to see if it grows.
"We're going to give until the end of next week and if nothing shows up more than the 0.1, we're going to do a biopsy of the bone marrow just to see what's going on, and see if there's anything there"
Boileau says the low count is making Jonathan battle a fever.
"He still has nausea, the fevers that kind of hike up sporadically during the day. He's got good spirits, but we're kind of hoping that those blood cells will start increasing. The minute they start increasing, the fevers should pretty much subside and he should start feeling better"
The normal range for a white blood cell count is between 4.0 and 11.0.
For now, it's a waiting game for Ottawa's Butterfly Child.
