Ottawa's Muslim community is banding together after incidents of hate graffiti on churches, synagogues, and the Ottawa Mosque.
President of the Muslim Society of Ottawa Jaffar Hashmi says the public's response to the incidents show the true values of Canadians.
"This demonstrates the majority's tolerance and respect for religious freedom and gives hope to those who practice in any place of worship."
Hashmi also denied some public opinion that these incidents are stemming from Donald Trump's election victory.
"As far as we're concerned that has nothing to do with this - it’s an isolated incident. We think Canadian people are very peaceful and loving people and that's why we are here. We love peace and harmony in this society."
Meanwhile, the Muslim Society of Ottawa is holding an annual peace march that will take place around Parliament Hill Saturday afternoon, while an event of solidarity is taking place at a synagogue in the city's south end.
