Despite starting off their season with a good record, the Ottawa Senators are struggling with their attendance numbers.
Joining Kristy Cameron on The Newsfeed, Postmedia Sens Reporter Bruce Garrioch says the record low attendance at their last home game caused quite a stir.
"To me it's shocking that there seems to be a bit of a malaise around this team and that it has set in so quickly. They averaged 17,500 or so last year, but to see 11,000 people in that building Tuesday night quite frankly was shocking."
Garrioch says Tuesday's game against Arizona would've been tough to sell in any market, but at the end of the day the only thing that will fill the seats is a winning team.
"11,061 is the lowest they've ever had for a game since they moved to the Canadian Tire Centre. Now, Arizona, Tuesday night, I actually think that plays a big role".
Garrioch says the low numbers could be coming from a dip in the amount of season tickets that have been sold, meaning more tickets need to be moved for each individual game.
However, Garroich says he expects the attendance to be back to normal for Saturday's game against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
