Ottawa Police say one person has been arrested for impaired driving after they ran a red light and struck a police cruiser.
Police say it happened at about 1:45am this morning at the intersection of Jeanne D'Arc Boulevard and Champlain Street.
Police say the officer was driving northbound in a fully marked cruiser when it happened.
Both vehicles suffered extensive damage and airbags were deployed.
The officer was taken to hospital and treated for minor injuries.
Police also say three people fled the scene, but were apprehended a short while later.
The male driver was arrested and is facing an impaired driving charge.
The intersection of Jeanne D'Arc and Champlain was closed early this morning as police investigated. It has since reopened.
