Ottawa Police say they handed out 292 tickets this week as part of a week-long school zone enforcement blitz.
Const. Jon Hall with the Traffic Escort and Enforcement Unit says they saw a number of offences.
"Speeding was the most common offence observed and we did get some ridiculous speeds - 99 in a 60 school zone and 81 in a 40 school zone," said Hall. "We did get some crossover offences as well as unfortunately some drivers passing stopped school buses."
Hall pointed out while 292 tickets seems like a lot, the majority of drivers were obeying the law.
Police are reminding drivers to be alert while behind the wheel, especially in school zones.
