One person is dead after a shooting in Hintonburg on Tuesday night.
Officers were called to Bayswater Avenue and Laurel Street just before 11 p.m.
The victim was discovered inside a Jeep with a shot out driver's side window.
He was rushed to the Trauma Centre where he died of his injuries.
Police have identified the victim as Leslie Mwakio, 17, of Ottawa.
This marks the city's 64th shooting and 20th homicide of 2016.
The councillor for the area, Jeff Leiper, said it's discouraging to see the violence in the area escalating.
Leiper has called for an increased police presence in the area, after a string of incidents in recent months.
"We encourage residents to report, report, report...anything they see in the area." Leiper said.
"It's going to be important for police, as they focus and try to build up evidence to put a stop to whatever's going on at that corner, to have data and evidence upon which to base their actions."
Leiper said area residents scared and he understands why.
He's helping area residents form a Neighbourhood Watch group.
