Ottawa Police are now treating the death of Inuit artist Annie Pootoogook as 'suspicious'.
Staff-sergeant Bruce Pirt told the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network Monday that some aspects of the woman's death demand closer inspection.
Police have put out a call for information from members of the public who may be able to help trace Pootoogook's movements in the days before her death.
Investigators are also analyzing footage taken from surveillance cameras at the Shepherds of Good Hope, where the artist is said to have stayed.
Meanwhile, Ottawa Police Chief Charles Bordeleau says he will be investigating racist comments allegedly made by an officer, concerning Pootoogook's death.
According to the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network, a member of the public spotted the overtly racist comments online and sent an email complaint to both Chief Bordeleau and Mayor Watson.
The posts, concerning the death of Inuit artist Annie Pootoogook, were posted Friday and Saturday under an Ottawa Citizen story.
Annie Pootoogook's body was found in the Rideau River near Bordeleau Park on September 19th.
