With holiday parties in full swing you may want to take an extra second before grabbing a ride.
The Ottawa Police are warning about a possible fake-uber scam.
According to police, there is at least one man posing as an Uber driver in the ByWard market and downtown areas.
He waits outside bars and restaurants late at night and when people come outside, he offers them a ride as an Uber driver.
Police said that the suspect will get his passengers to pay with debit or VISA but uses a card skimmer to get your information.
They have issued a reminder that Uber is a smartphone app and all payments are made through your phone. Uber drivers should not be requesting other means of payment.
Police are not releasing a description of the suspect because there could be more than one.
Anyone with information should call and file a report with the Ottawa Police, 613-236-1222, ext. 7300
