The province's Special Investigations Unit is probing the death of a Smiths Falls man, who shot himself after getting a phonecall from police.
The police watchdog says the incident happened on June 3, when the 43-year-old man was contacted by the OPP.
According to a new release from the SIU, the man was informed of his pending arrest and later called 911, reporting a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The man was airlifted the Civic campus of the Ottawa Hospital, but succumbed to his injuries on June 9.
The SIU says three investigators and two forensic investigators have been assigned to the case.
