A 35-year-old St.Catharines man remains wanted after what The Ontario Provincial Police say is a record-breaking gun bust.
In a joint investigation with U.S. Homeland Security, OPP investigators seized 274 illegal firearms between the U.S. and Ontario.
168 of those firearms were intercepted before they could be smuggled into the province.
One dual citizen of Canada and the U.S. has been arrested and will be prosecuted in the states.
Additional suspects in this invesitgation were found to be trafficking illegal firearms and illicit drugs in the GTA and Niagara Region.
The results of a two-day investigation include the seizure of another 106 illegal firearms.
As well, a combined total of over 1,500 suspected fentanyl and opiod pills, and several hundred grams of suspected heroin and psilocybin were seized.
More than 1 kilogram of high-potency fentanyl was also seized, which is the equivalent to about 70,000 street-level doses.
The estimated street value of the illicit drugs and illegal firearms seized in Ontario is over $3 million.
This investigation resulted in 16 arrests and 279 charges in Ontario.
One individual, 35-year-old Eric Robinson of St. Catharines remains wanted.
