The province of Ontario is spending some $25 million to expand two Ottawa schools and build a brand new one.
Linda Savard, the president of the French Public School Board of Eastern Ontario says they will be building a secondary school on Strandherd Drive at Fraser Fields Way.
"We are the only school board that doesn't have a high school in the Barrhaven area," Savard says. "We've asking the government for this for quite awhile. So, for us, it's really good news because we were losing all those children that, after finishing their elementary, they were just moving into an immersion program or the Catholic French board."
De La Salle High School in Lowertown and Holy Redeemer Catholic Elementary in Kanata will both be getting additions.
