A Quebec provincial police officer is in stable condition after being shot responding to a disturbance call Tuesday night in Valleyfield.
Police say a 911 call came in reporting a domestic altercation around 9:30 p.m. The Surete du Quebec officer was shot responding to the call.
There was a brief standoff between a male suspect in the home and the officers, after which a woman was found unconscious inside the house. Police say she was later pronounced dead in hospital.
The male suspect is under police surveillance.
