The Ottawa REDBLACKS came up short at the CFL Awards Thursday night, but the biggest prize of the season has yet to be won.
The REBLACKS were in the running for four CFL Awards this season, but the Calgary Stampeders won in nearly every category.
Offensive lineman Jason Lauzon-Seguin came in second behind Calgary’s DaVaris Daniels for Top Rookie.
The Stamps’ Derek Dennis won Most Outstanding Lineman, ahead of Jon Gott.
Stampeders head coach Dave Dickenson won Coach of the Year, beating out Rick Campbell.
And quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell defeated REDBLACKS receiver Ernest Jackson for the CFL’s Most Outstanding Player.
But at the end of the season, the biggest prize of them all, the Grey Cup, is still up for grabs. The game will be played Sunday, at BMO Field in Toronto. You’ll be able to hear it live right here on CFRA.
The Stampeders also won the Most Outstanding Canadian category, with Jerome Messam, over the Ti-Cats’ Andy Fantuz.
B.C. Lions linebacker Solomon Elimimian was named Top Defensive Player. Montreal’s Bear Woods was the other finalist.
Justin Medlock, of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, was named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Special-Teams Player. Hamilton receiver Brandon Banks was the runner up.
