There's some positive news about the strangely-tinted Rideau Canal.
The Ontario Ministry of Environment says test results from samples taken last week show toxin levels from blue-green algae have been found to be below established guidelines for recreational water.
However, because the algae blooms have been found and testing may not always be available, Ottawa Public Health is still advising people to limit or avoid contact with canal water.
The toxins produced by the bacteria can be harmful to humans or pets when swallowed, or through something as simple as skin contact.
