The Ottawa Senators have found a replacement for Randy Lee.
The Sens said Monday that Peter MacTavish has been hired as a new assistant general manager for the team.
Of note, the official press release from the team says MacTavish has been hired as “one of the team’s assistant general managers,” suggesting another hire is forthcoming.
MacTavish comes to the Senators via law firm Norton Rose Fullbright Canada LLP. He also spent 15 years in player recruitment, player management, and contract negotiation work with CAA Hockey, the Senators say.
MacTavish will work with both the Ottawa Senators and the Belleville Senators, beginning October 1.
This comes less than a month after the resignation of Randy Lee, who had been suspended from his duties as assistant GM pending the outcome of his legal case in Buffalo, New York.
Lee is facing charges of harassment in the second degree, accused of making lewd comments and rubbing the shoulders of a 19-year-old male shuttle driver in late May. Lee was in Buffalo for the NHL’s scouting combine at the time.
Lee has pleaded not guilty and will face a non-jury trial in November.
