Ottawa Police have charged seven people, five of them underage, in connection with a string of alleged robberies targeting people selling used cell phones.
Police made the arrests Sunday and say 12 phones were recovered.
The suspects, police allege, would respond to classified ads posted by people looking to sell and then, under the pretense of examining the phone, take off with it without paying.
Police say these alleged incidents took place in the west end over the weekend.
Two adults–18-year-old Jeff Colas and 21-year-old Gilo Akwai-Cham–are charged alongside four 17-year-old boys and one 16-year-old boy who cannot be identified because of their age.
All seven suspects are facing at least one count each of robbery and conspiracy to commit and offense.
One of the 17-year-olds is also facing an assault charge.
The underagers are expected in court in December.
