It's definitely going to be a white Christmas, but Boxing Day might be a bit messy.
A special weather statement from Environment Canada is calling for a possible winter storm late Christmas Day or early Boxing Day.
Christmas morning, for its part, is looking picture perfect. The forecast is calling for a few flurries Christmas Eve, followed by a bright, sunny sky Christmas Day.
But another Colorado Low is on its way to our region. According to the statement, it's forecast to bring a wintery cocktail of snow, ice pellets and freezing rain for many regions including much of Northeastern and Eastern Ontario overnight into Boxing Day.
The precipitation is expected to change to rain Boxing Day. In far northeastern Ontario, though, it'll be mostly snow.
The statement comes amid one of the busiest travel times of the year. Motorists are advised to be prepared for difficult driving conditions when traveling to or from family visits, or to do Boxing Day shopping.
The statement covers much of eastern Ontario, including Algonquin Park, the Ottawa Valley and east toward the Prescott and Russell area.
The statement also extends north into Quebec, but Environment Canada says the worst of the precipitation is not expected until later Monday night.
CFRA will have the latest weather details on Christmas weekend.
