Ottawa Police say 40,000 people lined Bank Street and jammed into Lansdowne Park to celebrate the end of the city's 40-year Grey Cup drought.
The Ottawa REDBLACKS were given a heroes' welcome as they were driven along today's parade route.
Game MVP Henry Burris pumped his fist in the air, shaking the hands of fans as he rode by on the back of a truck. Jon Gott carried an axe.
Many players snapped selfies with the Grey Cup while throngs of fans celebrated in the background. Big Joe sported new hardware in the form of a REDBLACKS championship belt.
Ernest Jackson - who caught the game-winning touchdown pass Sunday - had the honour of carrying the trophy on stage.
Burris - on crutches nursing an injured knee - received the loudest ovation.
"There are organizations out there who said we couldn't do it," said Burris. "But because we have the finest fan base in the entire CFL, in three seasons we are Grey Cup Champions."
Burris would not comment on his future, saying he wants to enjoy this party. He noted his knee "probably" requires surgery to repair.
Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson handed a proclamation to the Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group, calling November 29, 2016 "Ottawa REDBLACKS Day."
OSEG President Jeff Hunt says today's gathering was the "whole point of bringing the team back."
Making up for not being allowed on field at the Grey Cup game, the lumberjacks cut TD cookies off a giant log representing each touchdown the REDBLACKS scored on Sunday.
