It would appear Ottawans are in favour of opening a supervised injection site.
The results of a public consultation on harm reduction services conducted by Ottawa Public Health finds 66 per cent of respondents believe creating a safe injection site would be beneficial.
But 36 per cent of respondents did raise concerns about the safe injection site including an increased presence of people who use drugs in the neighbourhood, an increase in drug selling or trafficking in the area and a negative impact on the reputation or image of the community.
More than 2,200 people completed the survey.
OPH says it will share and validate the results with key stakeholders and discuss implications for current and future plans.
