A man has been arrested in connection with a homicide investigation in Alfred and Plantagenet Thursday.
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say they were called on reports of a weapons incident near Concession Road 5 and Montée Peladeau around 2:30 p.m. Thursday when the found the woman's remains in a field.
A manhunt ensued as police looked for 61-year-old Daniel Lalonde, a suspect police said was armed and dangerous. Lalonde was apprehended a short time later, according to unconfirmed reports, at a restaurant in Hawkesbury.
It's not yet clear if any charges have been laid. Police have yet to identify the victim and have not yet said what Lalonde's relationship to the victim was.
The woman's death fell on a somber anniversary in the capital region. Thursday marked one year since three women were shot and killed by one man in Wilno in the Ottawa Valley.
