The Suya Spot on Shillington Avenue in the city's west end has received calls to shut down this week.
The calls came from both River Ward Councillor Riley Brockington and Ottawa Police Chief Charles Bordeleau, after the restaurant's several connections to acts of violence and crime.
Joining Kristy Cameron on The Newsfeed, Suya Spot Manager Reynolds Okoh denied the restaurant's connection to violence but says if the city wants to close it, it's out of his hands.
"If the city wants the restaurant to close down, who am I and who are we as a small, independent business to stop the city from shutting it down?"
The Suya Spot has been connected to several shootings and other acts of violence and crime over the last few years - most recently, when a shooting claimed the life of a 26-year-old man last Sunday on Shillington Avenue.
