Three people have been hospitalized following a dramatic crash in Lowertown Friday afternoon.
It happened around 4:05 p.m. Friday, at the corner of Rideau Street and Augusta Street. Ottawa Paramedics say it appears a car hit a pickup truck, and the pickup truck then struck a nearby wall, sending bricks flying out onto the street.
Three pedestrians were injured by those flying bricks. A 56-year-old woman suffered head and leg injuries, and was in serious but stable condition when she arrived at the trauma centre. A 62-year-old woman was also hospitalized with leg injuries. She was in stable condition. A man who was also hit by a brick was treated by Paramedics at the scene and released.
The 20-year-old woman driving the car was taken to hospital with neck and leg injuries. The driver of the pickup truck refused Paramedic assistance.
Ottawa Police are investigating the crash.
