Three members of the same family have been identified as the victims of yesterday's deadly plane crash in Maine.
58-year-old Joseph Robertson, his wife Anita and their daughter, 24-year-old Laura Robertson, were killed when their plane crashed near the airport in Greenville, Maine yesterday.
Friends say the Robertsons were prominent philanthropists who gave generously to the arts and other charities in the Niagara region.
The small aircraft was en route from Pembroke to Prince Edward Island when an emergency landing was requested in Greenville.
Police say that's when the plane missed the runway, crashing near the airport around 11:00am yesterday.
Police say Joseph Robertson was the pilot. Friends say the family was on the way to a vacation in Charlottetown.
The National Transportation Safety Agency is investigating the cause of the crash.
