Ottawa Police say it doesn't take much to lose a child in crowds like we'll see on Canada Day, so they're offering some suggestions on how to keep your children safe.
Constable Chuck Benoit said you should take a photo of your child just before you head out the door on Saturday.
"It's going to help us know what the child looks like, how they're dressed, and maybe the size of the child, to help locate the child in the crowd," Benoit told CTV News.
Another tip is to ink theier name and your cellphone number onto your child's arm, then protect it with liquid bandage or clear tape.
Benoit said police officers will be all through the crowd, so children should be encouraged to approach them if they are in trouble.
"Some of them are intimidated, but just walking up to us - we'll help find your parents for you."
Lost Children locations are being set up around the downtown, and will be marked with the sign of a teddy bear.
