A gymnastics coach, who worked here in Ottawa, is facing sex assault charges.
Peel Regional police have charged Scott McFarlane, 28, with sexual assault, sexual interference, child luring, indecent exposure and making sexual explicit material available to a person under 16.
Police said the charges stem from allegations made by a 15-year-old Ottawa girl who said these incidents happened over a four year period.
McFarlane was an active gymnastics coach in the Peel Region, Oakville, Ottawa and Western Canada.
In a statement Gymnastics Canada said:
Gymnastics Canada has been made aware that Mr. Scott McFarlane, a gymnastics coach registered with Gymnastics Ontario, has been charged today with numerous sex related offences and as a result, he has been suspended indefinitely from both Gymnastics Canada and Gymnastics Ontario as per our policies.
Peel Regional Police have told CTV that he did live in Ottawa for a certain amount of time.
Police believe there could be more victims and are asking who may have had contact with McFarlane to contact them.
