Ottawa Police have laid charges against two 16-year-old boys following a shooting in the South Keys area Saturday afternoon.
A 15-year-old boy was shot at around 4:30 p.m. on Bank Street north of Hunt Club, near the South Keys shopping centre. His injuries were serious, but police say he is expected to survive.
Two 16-year-old boys were arrested at the scene and a handgun was seized.
One of the teens is facing the following charges:
- Discharge firearm with intent
- Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
- Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
- Possession of a weapon
- Possession of a firearm without a license
- Carrying concealed weapon
- Pointing a firearm
- Careless use of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
- Assault with a weapon
- Aggravated assault
- Fail to comply with a recognizance (court order)
The second is facing charges of:
- Possession of a firearm without a license
- Possession of a weapon
- Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
- Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
- Possession of a firearm, prohibited or restricted weapon obtained by crime
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
Both appeared in court Monday. They cannot be identified because of their age.
