Ottawa Police are investigating two stabbings that happened within three hours of each other on Rideau Street overnight.
The first incident sent a 32-year-old man to hospital in serious condition after he was stabbed around 10:40 p.m. Monday at Rideau and Dalhousie.
Police say an 18-year-old man was taken into custody at the scene and no other suspects are being sought.
Later, police say two 22-year-old women were stabbed at around 1 a.m. Tuesday. One woman suffered as many as five stab wounds to her chest, abdomen and left arm and was taken to hospital in critical condition, according to Ottawa Paramedics. The other woman sustained a minor wound to her back.
Police say they are looking for a suspect described as a black woman in her early 20s. She's between 5'3" and 5'5" and was wearing a black jacket and black pants at the time of the incident.
Anyone with information on either incident is asked to contact police.
This follows a violent weekend in the capital that saw three seperate stabbings, one of which was fatal.
