Ottawa Paramedics confirm they were called to the Carleton Avenue area, near the Metro, at around 6:50 p.m. on reports of a stabbing. A man in his 40s was taken to the trauma centre in stable condition after suffering "significant" stab wounds.

UPDATE, 12:00 a.m.
The province's police watchdog is investigating a police-involved shooting that's left one person dead near Wellington West Sunday night.
The SIU says a 25-year-old man was allegedly fatally shot by a police officer following an interaction with police. The man was said to have a weapon on him.
He was pronounced dead in hospital.
Witnesses say they heard four loud gun shots around 7:30 p.m. near the Metro grocery store on Wellington West.
No other details were immediately made available.

The province's police watchdog is investigating what Ottawa Police would only describe as an "officer-involved shooting" on Wellington West in Hintonburg Sunday night.
Ottawa Police would not confirm any further details, saying the investigation was now in the hands of the Special Investigation's Unit (SIU).
