Ottawa Police are investigating a homicide in Centretown.

Ottawa Police say an arrest has been made in connection with a homicide investigation in Centretown.

Police could offer no other details other than to say a man was arrested. Charges are pending.

This is Ottawa's third homicide of 2017.

Officers were called to 415 MacLaren at about 10:50 p.m. Monday.

First responders found a male lying on the ground, who had "possibly fallen from a high rise."

19-year-old Ahmad Afrah died at the scene.

He was known to police.

Ottawa Police Staff Sergeant Bruce Pirt says, upon further investigation, the death was deemed suspicious.

"It took a few days to determine that it was not what it appeared to be at first glance," he says. "It was not just a fall from the upper floors of that apartment building."

Pirt said Afrah was "not dead before he hit the ground" but no other details have been made available.

A unit on the 16th floor has been sealed off.

Investigators are calling for anyone with more information to come forward.
