The 2017 JUNO Awards at Canadian Tire Centre take place this weekend, and there are lead-up events across Ottawa. The Sunday, April 2 show begins at 6:30 p.m. and is hosted by Bryan Adams and Russell Peters. See performances by Shawn Mendes, Alessia Cara, A Tribe Called Red, Ruth B, The Strumbellas, Arkells, Sarah McLachlan, and Feist.

Before the awards begin, experience JUNOFest , a two-night music festival featuring 100+ artists playing on stages in more than 15 venues across Ottawa on Friday, March 31 and Saturday, April 1 as part of the 2017 JUNO Week.

You can also visit JUNO House: R·Evolutions. Curated by journalist and musicologist Allan Wigney, it will offer the public a unique opportunity to experience the story of Canadian music inspiration to creation to recognition. Joni Mitchell’s artwork, k.d. lang’s “wedding dress”, Drake’s running shoes and more will share the space with artwork from Canada Council’s Art Bank, pieces from the National Music Centre and JUNO Awards memorabilia.

The JUNO Photography Exhibition is a stunning retrospective photography exhibition showcasing the past 40+ years of Canadian music and the JUNO Awards. A selection of photos from the JUNO Awards’ 40th Anniversary book, Music from Far and Wide, as well as never before seen photos taken by Canada’s foremost rock and roll photographers including Barry Roden, Bruce Cole, Grant Martin, George Pimental, and Alex Urosevic, along with photographers from iPhoto Inc.

On Friday, March 31, you can attend the opening reception of Art is Art showcasing the visual art practices of prominent Canadian recording artists. Featuring a diversity of national talent, the works will also be a part of the building blocks of the JUNO Awards’ permanent collection and will appear as a part of the JUNO Awards each year further travelling to other galleries and cultural institutions within Canada. The reception begins at 5:00 p.m. at the OAG Annex, City Hall 110 Laurier Avenue West. Art it Art runs until April 16th.
