This weekend, Canada remembers the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge. This historic battle has been described as the “birth of a nation.” The Canadian War Museum is hosting special events to mark the start of the battle. The Museum will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday and admission will be free.
Sign up for one of the new highlight tours of the Museum with a special focus on Vimy and its legacy, offered for free on April 8 and 9. English and French guided tours starting at 10 and 11:15 a.m., and 12, 1, 2, 3 and 4 p.m. Register in the Lobby.
Gather to watch the broadcast of the official commemorative ceremonies. The Museum will present the televised ceremonies for all to see. In English: LeBreton Gallery, 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. In French: Barney Danson Theatre, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
On April 8 and 9, join special guest presenters for an interactive play-by-play of this iconic event, featuring model soldiers and a detailed reproduction of the battlefield. Lobby, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
