This weekend at the National Arts Centre, take in the World Premiere of ENCOUNT3RS. This landmark NAC Commission pairs three of Canada’s outstanding choreographic talents with three of the country’s most exciting composers. Ballet BC’s trail-blazing Emily Molnar meets her musical match with innovative composer Nicole Lizée. Alberta Ballet’s eminent and prolific Jean Grand-Maître joins forces with multiple award-winning new music visionary Andrew Staniland; and Guillaume Côté, gifted dancer and choreographic associate with the National Ballet of Canada, is perfectly paired with noted emerging composer Kevin Lau.

As Ottawa Welcomes the World in 2017, check out the true magic of Turkey presented though a variety of painting and cultural exhibitions at the Horticulture Building at Lansdowne Park. Ecology Ottawa will host the inaugural Ottawa Park Summit – an innovative and unprecedented event that brings together people from more than 50 organizations from across the City of Ottawa to generate ideas and build momentum for better parks in our city. The event will take place on Saturday, April 22 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Makerspace North (Bay 216, 250 City Centre Ave.).
The event will be followed by Ecology Ottawa’s first Earth Day Celebration from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the same location. The celebration will be hosted by comedienne Martha Chaves, with music from DJ Goldilocks. Food, drinks and door prizes will be provided to guests.

The 36th Annual Ottawa Orchid Show and Sale is taking place at the RA Centre on April 22,12-5; April 23 9-5., Photographers are welcome to attend with their tripods from 9-11 on Sunday. This annual orchid show is Eastern Ontario’s largest. There will be stunning orchid exhibits from across Canada, a large sales area featuring orchids that you can’t get anywhere in the region (two vendors are even coming in from Taiwan), jewelry, photos, paintings, cards, supplies, an art gallery, our plant doctor, educational displays and raffles every hour on the hour.
