Ottawa Welcomes the World for the FINAL time this weekend. On Friday, December 1, we celebrate the National Day of Romania. The day will feature artistic performances by Marțișor Orchestra from Montreal, art, heritage and literature exhibitions, gastronomy, special activities for children aimed at offering them a glimpse into the history and culture of our part of Europe, as well as a display of the Romanian Christmas and winter traditions and carols with the Incognito Choir of Ottawa-Gatineau.

The Tim Hortons Roar of the Rings takes over the Canadian Tire Centre starting this weekend. The battle to represent Canada on the world stage begins Saturday, December 2 and continues until December 10. Hometown hero Rachel Homan is among the titans of the sport taking to the ice.

Help the less fortunate and get a bit of exercise while doing it with the Salvation Army’s Santa Shuffle 5k Fun Run, this Saturday. Pledges raised for the Santa Shuffle will support people in your community who may be struggling to make ends meet.

At the Billings Estate, there are two events this weekend for kids and grown-ups alike. The little ones, Santa and Phil the Magic Reindeer are visiting the estate Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for Elves at the Estate. For the grown-ups, a Christmas Séance is on Sunday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
