Jack Frost is set to return to the capital.
Environment Canada says cold Arctic air will move into Ottawa on Sunday, bringing seasonal temperatures for the start of the work week.
Temperatures will drop to -16C Sunday night and Monday night.
Meteorologist Kelly Hobelman says Ottawa "can expect near-normal, or perhaps below normal temperatures" by mid-week.
No significant snowfall is expected this week.
Hobelman adds "there is even colder weather" coming near the end of the work week, with temperatures dropping to -21C Thursday night.
The cold temperatures should be good news for the Rideau Canal Skateway.
The World's largest skating rink has been closed this weekend after mild temperatures weakened the ice surface.
The NCC says crews continue operations to open the canal as quickly as possible.
