A fine has been issued from a collision between a van and a bike on O'Connor which was caught on video by another cyclist this week.
The footage recorded on Tuesday shows the van making a left turn at Waverley and slamming into the cyclist.
The man on the bike manages to get up under his own power.
Paul Ringuette, the cyclist who filmed the incident and posted it to YouTube, says he's nearly been hit on multiple occasions during his commutes.
"A few weeks ago I was right hooked twice on Bank St. a kilometre apart," says Ringuette. "Thankfully I was able to stop in time."
Ringuette strongly disagrees with anyone blaming the design of the O'Connor bikeway.
"It's clear the bike lane was not at fault here. Cyclists are not posts. They are still moving when you pass them. When you pass another car, do you change lanes or turn across their path as soon as your front wheels are past the other car's front bumper?"
Ottawa Police say the driver of the van has been written a failure to yield ticket.
