A popular corner store and lunch counter in Hintonburg will close its doors on Sunday for the final time.
Sam Souryavong and his sister Sandy are closing the Fairmont Confectionery and Sam’s Café on Fairmont Avenue.
They purchased the confectionary in 2014 and added a kitchen to sell Thai dishes.
Sam Souryavong tells CTV Ottawa it will be a “tremendous sad day”, adding “he loves the neighbours. They have been so supportive.”
He says they are closing the store to spend more time with his mother, who has Alzheimer’s and lives in Toronto.
A store has been located on Fairmont Avenue since the 1920s.
