Gatineau police are investigating after a young boy said he was approached by a suspicious man as he was waiting to go to school.
Police say it happened at around 8:15 a.m. Monday, near the intersection of Clément and Sabourin.
The man allegedly invited the boy into his van, but the child got into the vehicle of someone trustworthy. The man drove away down Notre Dame Street.
The suspect is described as a man in his 50s with grey hair and a full white beard, who wears silver-trimmed eye glasses.
His van is described as burgundy in colour. It may be an older model Ford.
Police say an increased police presence was in the area Tuesday morning to ensure a smooth transition to classes and extra officers will be in the area as the investigation continues.
