Kingston Police are warning parents about "cappers."
The term is used to describe people who screen capture explicit videos of children committing sexual acts over video.
Kingston Police say sometimes these videos are used to extort the children or their parents for money and the videos are often shared on child pornography forums.
They are warning parents not to rely on content filters and parental controls on technology.
Rather, parents should speak with their children about the potential harm that can occur if they get naked on webcam.
Police recommend having regular conversations about what apps, websites, and platforms your children are using, especially those that have live stream capabilities.
