Steps forward in cancer research are being made at Johns Hopkins University.
A new test called a liquid biopsy finds genetic markers in blood to discover cancer at much earlier stages than other standard biopsies.
The new liquid biopsy is much less invasive than older procedures, some which require tubes or needles to be inserted into the body.
The blood tests have found 70 per cent of eight common types of cancer in patients.
The new procedure is still in its early stages of testing, according to members of the study Nickolas Papadopoulos and Dr. Peter Bach, who say it is still not ready for accurate medical use.
