OC Transpo is facing a fine by the Canadian Transportation Agency for its system of calling out bus stops.
In a memo to city councillors, transportation manager John Manconi says a CTA enforcement officer issued a notice saying stops were not called out during three bus rides in November of this year.
The system is automated, with a recorded voice calling out stops in English and French along all routes.
Manconi says the City is taking steps to obtain and review the information in the CTA’s notice of violation, to decide whether or not to appeal the ruling.
As it stands, the fine must be paid by January 24, 2018.
Manconi says staff will also find out just what happened and whether any improvements to the call system can be made.
