Transit riders have scored a victory after OC Transpo had said it wasn't going to run the number 12 bus downtown this fall.
The 12 starts at Blair station and runs down Rideau, Wellington, and Bank Streets, stopping on Slater.
But OC Transpo said, starting September 2, the route was going to stop near the National War Memorial, in order to better connect with the future Rideau LRT station.
Residents were unhappy and took their issue to the city.
Councillor Mathieu Fleury Tweeted Friday saying the route will now go to Queen and Metcalfe in the fall, in the heart of the business district.
In light of feedback from transit users, I’ve worked with @JimWatsonOttawa & @OC_Transpo to find a solution to extend Route 12 past Rideau Centre. It will now go to Queen & Metcalfe, in the heart of the business district and one block away from future all-day STO service. 1/2 pic.twitter.com/BgaGP4WrFg
