Ottawa Public Health and Ottawa Police have teamed up to issue an alert related to the ongoing fentanyl crisis.
They are warning about counterfeit prescription drugs manufactured to look almost identical to opiods like Oxycontin and Percocet along with other medication.
OPH says it's suspected counterfeit drugs have been involved in recent life-threatening overdoses in the city.
Lab testing is currently being conducted on the contents of these pills. Fentanyl has been found in counterfeit Percocet in the past.
The Ottawa Overdose Prevention and Response Task Force continues to urge residents to be vigilant.
