An RCMP officer and his wife have been found guilty of several counts, including aggravated assault, forcible confinement, and failure to provide necessities of life, after admitting to imprisoning and torturing his 11-year-old son in the basement of their Kanata home.
The officer, who cannot be named to protect his son's identity, testified last spring that he felt his son was possessed, and would kill him if he were let free.
The 46 year old man admitted chained the boy to a basement post, burned him with a barbecue lighter, and withheld food and clothes.
He argued he suffers from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and shouldn't be held accountable for his actions.
His wife is the step-mother to the boy.
The officer testified she did not witness any of the abuse.
Ottawa police say this is the worst case of child abuse they've ever seen.
