Starting Monday, and continuing until the beginning of December, Rideau Street will shut down overnight for LRT construction.
This means buses, taxis, and delivery trucks will be barred from a section of Rideau Street, from Sussex Drive to Dalhousie Street, between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., daily. Detours will be in place. OC Transpo buses will be diverted to the Mackenzie King Bridge during those hours.
The City says from Monday, October 3 to Tuesday, October 11, there will be a free OC Transpo shuttle service offered between the ByWard Market and Mackenzie King, with various pick-up locations. You’ll be able to catch the shuttles between midnight and 6:00 a.m. Monday to Wednesday, and between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Thursday to Saturday.
Starting on the 11th, the Rideau Centre will allow transit users to walk through the mall between the Freiman Entrance (on Rideau Street, across from The Bay) and Mackenzie King Bridge.
From October 13th until construction ends in December, the shuttle service between the Market and Mackenzie King will be offered every 10 minutes on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights, between 10:0 p.m. and 3:00 a.m.
