Firefighters say the blaze started in the basement of the home, but it was quickly put out by itself, after a water pipe burst.

Gatineau Firefighters say two people are displaced after an overnight house fire on Margueritte D'Youville.

They say they were called to the blaze just before 12:30 a.m. They say the fire started in the basement, but actually put itself out, after a water pipe ruptured.

No one was injured in the fire, but the two people living there had to be evacuated; they're now displaced.

The house suffered heavy damage from the smoke and flames, making it uninhabitable. Damages are estimated at $100,000 dollars.
