Forecasters say the weather predicted for this year's Winterlude couldn't be better.
The annual celebration of winter begins Friday and runs for three consecutive weekends.
Environment Canada's David Phillips says he's checked out the long-range forecast covering the event.
"I've looked at the 15-day and three week forecasts, and it looks absolutely perfect," Phillips told 'News and Views with Rob Snow.'
There is a warming trend forecast for mid-month, but Phillips noted that daytime high temperatures should still remain below freezing.
"If the ice is set and the ice sculptures are carved, there's not going to be weather that assaults those," he said.
"It's going to be, from a weather point of view, near-perfect."
Winterlude events are happening at several locations, including Jacques-Cartier Park, Confederation Park,Ottawa City Hall, and the Rideau Canal Skateway.
